If you’ve lived in Middle Tennessee long enough, you know our winter storms are different.

We don’t usually get fluffy snow like up north. Instead, storms here often bring ice first, then heavy, wet snow, followed by temperatures that hover right around freezing. Add hills, untreated back roads, trees and above-ground power lines, and you’ve got the perfect recipe for outages, burst pipes and travel nightmares.

The good news? A little preparation goes a long way.

Here’s a Middle Tennessee–specific winter storm action plan — practical, realistic and not overkill.

🌨 What Matters Most During a Middle Tennessee Winter Storm

1. Prepare for Long Power Outages

This is the #1 issue during local winter storms.

Do this before temperatures drop:

  • Charge all phones, tablets, battery packs and laptops
  • Locate flashlights, headlamps and extra batteries
  • Download movies, podcasts and offline maps
  • Turn your refrigerator and freezer slightly colder than normal
  • Have a cooler ready in case food needs to be moved outside

If you own a generator, run it for 10 minutes and top off fuel now — not after the lights go out.

2. Frozen & Burst Pipes Are a Major Risk

Many Middle Tennessee homes aren’t built like northern homes, which makes plumbing especially vulnerable.

Before freezing temperatures:

  • Drip faucets on exterior walls
  • Open under-sink cabinets
  • Disconnect garden hoses
  • Cover outdoor spigots
  • Know where your main water shutoff valve is located

💡 Most expensive winter storm damage in Tennessee comes from frozen or burst pipes.

3. Vehicle Strategy (Very Middle TN–Specific)

  • Fill gas tanks early
  • Park at the bottom of steep driveways
  • Park away from trees when possible
  • Put an ice scraper in every vehicle
  • Keep a small emergency kit inside

Once ice hits, our roads quickly turn into skating rinks. Plan to stay put for 48–72 hours if possible.

4. Grocery Reality Check

In Middle Tennessee, grocery shelves empty fast.

Have at least:

  • 3–4 days of easy meals
  • Bottled water
  • Coffee (trust us on this one ☕)
  • Snacks and non-perishables
  • Pet food

Assume you may not be able to safely leave home until roads thaw.

5. Have a Heating Backup Plan

Many homes in our area rely on:

  • Electric heat pumps (which struggle in extreme cold)
  • All-electric systems with no secondary heat source

Prepare with:

  • Extra blankets and warm clothing
  • Hand warmers
  • Sleeping bags
  • Fireplace and firewood if you have them

🚫 Never use grills, propane heaters, or outdoor heating devices indoors.

6. Tree & Ice Awareness

Heavy ice brings:

  • Snapped limbs
  • Bent or broken pine trees
  • Downed power lines

Protect your property by:

  • Avoiding parking under trees
  • Bringing in patio furniture
  • Securing trash cans
  • Clearing walkways early, before ice sets

7. Icy Driveways & Walkways

Have these on hand:

  • Ice melt or salt
  • Kitty litter for traction
  • A metal shovel
  • A flat ice scraper

Clear early — because Tennessee snow quickly turns into concrete-like ice.

8. Create a Communication Plan

During storms, cell networks can become overloaded.

  • Keep a written list of important phone numbers
  • Have a battery-powered radio
  • Decide how you’ll check on family, friends and neighbors

This is especially important for elderly neighbors.

Tennessee Independent Insurance Agents Battery Powered Radio

9. If You Lose Power

Local, practical tips:

  • Keep refrigerator doors closed (food is usually good ~24 hours)
  • Use outdoor coolers if temperatures stay below freezing
  • Let faucets drip slightly
  • Close off unused rooms
  • Layer up instead of trying to heat the entire house

10. Set the Right Mindset

This is Middle Tennessee reality:

  • Roads may be bad for 2–3 days
  • Plows prioritize main roads
  • Neighborhood streets are often last to improve

Plan for a cozy “stuck-at-home” weekend rather than fighting the conditions.

Five Things Every Middle Tennessee Resident Should Do Tonight

If you do nothing else:

  1. Fill all gas tanks
  2. Charge all devices
  3. Drip faucets
  4. Stock groceries
  5. Locate flashlights and batteries

Bonus: Common Middle Tennessee Winter Storm Mistakes

  • Waiting too long to drip faucets
  • Trying to drive on Day One
  • Parking on steep driveways
  • Using candles instead of flashlights
  • Forgetting pet food

A Small Business Owner’s Handbook

In the fast-paced realm of small businesses, prioritizing the safety and welfare of your workforce is paramount. Worker’s compensation insurance stands as a vital safeguard, offering both financial protection and peace of mind for employers and employees alike in the event of workplace injuries or illnesses. This guide aims to provide small business owners with a comprehensive grasp of worker’s compensation, shedding light on its intricacies from an insurance standpoint.

Understanding Worker’s Compensation Fundamentals

Worker’s compensation is a specialized insurance type designed to furnish benefits to employees who sustain injuries or fall ill due to job-related tasks. This coverage steps in to bridge the gap, supplementing lost wages and covering medical expenses, thereby easing the financial burden on affected employees. It’s imperative for small businesses to adhere to legal mandates by carrying worker’s compensation insurance, with specific regulations varying based on location.

Covering Injuries and Ailments

Worker’s compensation typically extends its coverage to a wide spectrum of injuries and illnesses arising within the sphere of employment. This encompasses accidents transpiring on the job site, injuries stemming from work-related activities, and occupational diseases stemming from workplace conditions. It’s crucial for small business proprietors to grasp the extent of coverage to ensure comprehensive protection for their employees across various scenarios.

Navigating the Claims Process

In the event of a workplace injury or illness, the worker’s compensation claims process is set into motion. Small business owners should emphasize the importance of promptly reporting incidents to their employees. The process entails the following steps:

  • Incident Reporting: Swiftly reporting the injury or illness to the designated agent or Worker’s Compensation provider is crucial.
  • Medical Attention: Employees should seek medical assistance akin to an off-the-job injury. Many Worker’s Compensation providers offer dedicated nurse hotlines to provide further guidance.
  • Claim Assessment: The insurance provider evaluates the claim to ascertain its validity and the ensuing benefits owed.

Worker’s Compensation Benefits typically encompass:

  • Medical Expenses: Coverage for medical treatments, hospitalization, medications, and rehabilitation services tied to the workplace injury or illness.
  • Lost Wages: Compensation for a portion of the employee’s lost wages during their recuperation period.
  • Disability Benefits: Payments for temporary or permanent disabilities arising from the workplace incident.
  • Vocational Rehabilitation: Aid for injured employees to reintegrate into the workforce through training or job placement programs.

It’s imperative for employers and employees to maintain regular contact with the claims adjustor, facilitating a smooth progression through the claims process.

Employer Obligations

Small business owners wield significant influence in the worker’s compensation framework. Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring a Safe Workplace: Implementing proactive measures to uphold workplace safety and mitigate accidents.
  • Carrying Adequate Insurance: Complying with local regulations by maintaining the requisite worker’s compensation insurance coverage.
  • Prompt Claims Reporting: Collaborating closely with the insurance provider by promptly reporting any workplace incidents and facilitating cooperation during the claims process.

Worker’s compensation stands as a cornerstone of a small business’s risk management strategy. By grasping the core tenets of how worker’s compensation operates, small business owners can cultivate a safer work environment, safeguard their employees, and ensure adherence to legal obligations. Regularly reviewing and updating worker’s compensation policies aids in adapting to evolving business needs while reaffirming dedication to the well-being of the workforce.

]]>
As spring approaches, it’s crucial to pay meticulous attention to every aspect of your vehicle to ensure a smooth transition into the new season. Let’s delve deeper into each step of preparing your vehicle for spring driving.

Checking Tires and Tire Pressure

Your vehicle’s foundation lies in its tires, making them a critical aspect of spring preparation. Beyond just a glance, it’s imperative to thoroughly inspect tread depth, especially in light of the impending spring showers. These showers can dramatically alter road conditions, making adequate tire tread essential for safe driving. Proper inflation is equally crucial, as colder temperatures can cause tire pressure to fluctuate. Ensuring optimal tire pressure not only enhances safety but also improves fuel efficiency and extends tire lifespan.

Testing and Replacing Wiper Blades

Clear visibility is paramount for safe driving, particularly during spring showers. Testing your wiper blades for effectiveness is a small yet crucial step in vehicle maintenance. Streaks, smearing, or skipping across the windshield are clear signs that your wiper blades need replacement. By addressing this issue promptly, you ensure a clear view of the road ahead, even during unexpected downpours.

Assessing Brake Performance

Winter conditions can take a toll on your vehicle, particularly the braking system. Addressing any issues with brake performance is a proactive measure to ensure safe navigation through the nuanced challenges of spring roads. Beyond simply checking brake fluid levels, it’s essential to assess overall brake performance, including responsiveness and control. A well-maintained braking system provides peace of mind and contributes significantly to road safety.

Dealing with Spring Showers

Spring brings rejuvenating rain showers, which can significantly impact road safety. Adjusting your driving speed to accommodate wet conditions is a crucial safety practice. Additionally, ensuring that your brake lights are fully functional enhances visibility for other drivers during spring showers, contributing to a safer driving environment for all road users.

Avoiding Potholes and Road Repairs

Potholes, remnants of winter’s harshness, are a common sight on spring roads. Safely navigating these obstacles requires attentive driving and strategic maneuvers to minimize the risk of vehicle damage. Spotting and avoiding potholes involve not only vigilance but also employing driving techniques that mitigate potential harm to your vehicle. Moreover, staying informed about ongoing road repairs is essential for effective route planning. Utilizing navigation apps for real-time updates and planning alternate routes helps minimize unexpected delays and ensures a smoother journey.

Wildlife Awareness on the Roads

As spring breathes life into nature, increased wildlife activity becomes a potential road hazard. Recognizing animal behavior patterns and identifying high-risk areas for wildlife crossings are essential precautions for drivers. Practicing caution, especially during dawn and dusk when wildlife is most active, involves implementing safe driving practices and remaining vigilant for potential hazards. Additionally, understanding how to react if encountering wildlife on the road, such as hitting animals at an angle to reduce the risk of windshield penetration, is vital for minimizing accidents and ensuring safety for both drivers and animals.

Pedestrian Safety

With warmer weather enticing more people outdoors, pedestrian safety becomes paramount for drivers. Slowing down and exercising additional caution near pedestrian areas, playgrounds, and school zones is essential. Adhering to traffic signals and yielding to pedestrians, particularly when pedestrian-activated traffic lights are flashing, helps create a safer environment for everyone. Moreover, being mindful of pedestrians distracted by mobile devices underscores the importance of remaining attentive and vigilant while driving.

Spring Cleaning for Your Car

Spring cleaning isn’t just for homes—it’s equally important for your vehicle. Clearing out winter debris and clutter from the interior ensures a more organized and distraction-free driving experience. Beyond the interior, preserving the exterior of your vehicle is essential for both aesthetics and protection. A thorough car wash and wax session not only restore shine but also safeguard the paint and finish from the residue of winter roads. Empowering drivers with tips for DIY car washing and waxing promotes meticulous vehicle maintenance and enhances overall driving satisfaction.

Embrace the Beauty of Springtime Drives

Springtime invites drivers to explore the beauty of blooming landscapes and rejuvenated surroundings. Embracing the scenic routes synonymous with spring allows for relaxation and enjoyment amidst nature’s splendor. However, striking a balance between appreciation and safe driving practices is crucial. While soaking in the sights, maintaining focus on the road ensures a harmonious blend of enjoyment and safety for a memorable springtime driving experience.

Beware of Flooding

Spring brings not only rain showers but also the risk of localized flooding, particularly when meltwater combines with spring rain. Driving through flooded areas poses significant dangers, as the pavement beneath may be washed away, leading to potential accidents or vehicle damage. Avoiding flooded portions of roads and big puddles is paramount for safety. Additionally, driving at a speed that allows for effective vehicle handling and refraining from using cruise control on wet or slippery roads helps minimize the risk of hydroplaning and ensures safe navigation through spring conditions.

Preventing Overheating and Monitoring Engine Temperature

As temperatures rise, preventing engine overheating becomes a priority for vehicle maintenance. Regularly checking coolant levels and understanding the importance of adequate coolant levels are fundamental for proper engine cooling. Monitoring the engine temperature gauge and taking precautions, such as avoiding prolonged idling and ensuring proper airflow to the engine, help prevent overheating-related issues. By staying vigilant and proactive, drivers can safeguard their vehicles’ engines and ensure optimal performance during the warmer spring months.

Spring Driving Safety Checklist

Summarizing essential tips for safe spring driving involves creating a personalized checklist tailored to your vehicle’s needs. From tire checks to wildlife awareness, having a comprehensive checklist ensures a systematic approach to safety. Encouraging regular vehicle maintenance throughout the year further enhances safety on the roads, providing drivers with peace of mind and confidence in their vehicle’s readiness for springtime journeys.

In conclusion, prioritizing safety and preparedness is key to enjoying the joyous experiences of springtime driving. By staying informed, proactive, and mindful of potential hazards, drivers can embark on journeys filled with beauty, excitement, and above all, safety. Let the season’s splendor accompany you as you navigate the roads with confidence and responsibility, ensuring that every journey is not only delightful but also secure.

You may be wondering to yourself, why are my auto insurance rates what they are, and how can I possibly lower them. This article delves into various factors affecting your car insurance rates, ranging from the value of your vehicle to your driving habits. While some aspects are beyond your control, such as increasing repair and medical costs, there are strategies to reduce your insurance expenses.

Here are several ways to economize on your auto insurance:

Increase Your Deductible: Consider raising your deductible, the out-of-pocket amount you pay before your insurance coverage activates in case of an incident. This can swiftly reduce your insurance premiums. However, be prepared to cover the deductible yourself in the event of an accident.

Explore Available Discounts: Research the discounts offered by your insurance provider to ensure you’re maximizing savings. These discounts may include purchasing policies online, opting for automatic payment, bundling home and auto insurance, participating in safe driving programs, and more.

Compare Insurance Quotes: Seek multiple insurance quotes online or through a local agent. Focus on obtaining the coverage you need rather than simply opting for the cheapest option, as quality coverage matters.

Maintain a Clean Driving Record: Safe driving not only protects you and others on the road but also keeps your insurance rates low. Avoid speeding, accidents, and other driving incidents to prevent costly fines and maintain lower insurance rates.

Enroll in a Safe Driving Program: Regardless of your driving history, you can demonstrate responsible driving through programs like Progressive’s Snapshot Rewards®. Participating in Snapshot Rewards can help you save up to $231 per year on your premium and offers discounts for signing up and participating. It monitors various driving behaviors, such as braking, acceleration, and nighttime driving.

Complete an Accident Prevention Course: Even experienced drivers can benefit from accident prevention courses. Some states offer discounts to policyholders who complete a qualified course, which may be available online.

Explore Payment Options: Flexible payment methods, such as making annual payments or linking your bank account, can lead to savings. Additionally, opting for paperless statements not only reduces your policy costs but also benefits the environment.

Improve Your Credit Score: In some states, your credit score can impact your insurance rates. A higher credit score is often associated with responsible driving behavior. To improve your credit score, pay bills on time, reduce credit utilization, and ensure the accuracy of your credit report.

Low Mileage Discounts: If you work from home or have a short daily commute, you may qualify for low mileage discounts.

Review and Adjust Your Policy: Periodically review your policy to ensure it aligns with your current needs. As your vehicle ages, consider adjusting coverage related to repair costs. If you own your vehicle outright, you might be able to lower certain coverages.

Consider Insurance Costs When Choosing a Vehicle: The type of vehicle you drive can significantly impact your insurance rates. Some vehicles are more expensive to insure due to their repair costs. When selecting a new vehicle, consider how it might affect your insurance costs.

Save on Teen Drivers: Adding a teen driver to your policy typically increases costs. However, many insurers offer discounts for teens who excel academically, live away at school, or choose a higher deductible.

Bundle Policies: Combining your home and auto insurance with one carrier is an easy way to reduce your insurance costs. This not only offers a discount but also simplifies your account management.

By following these strategies, you can potentially lower your car insurance premiums and find ways to save on your coverage.

The Insurance Information Institute conducted a survey in 2014 and found that 37% of renters do not have renters insurance. Is this surprising to you? We were taken aback, so we conducted our own research to determine why nearly half of renters do not secure their belongings. We were once more surprised by what we discovered because the majority of the reasons tenants gave for not purchasing renters insurance were all misconceptions and myths.

On the off chance that you’re a leaseholder and you are perusing this article, you might inquire as to why we care whether tenants get protection. After all, aren’t we primarily a service for landlords? Yes, in some way. We definitely assist landlords. Yet, we were tenants once as well as were most landowners.

We also care a lot about our renters, which is why we made many of our services specifically for renters. You have possessions, and the majority of them probably have value. Don’t you want to safeguard those possessions from occurrences beyond your control?

As a result, we created this blog to hopefully assist renters like you in clearing up any confusion so that you can reevaluate whether renters insurance is necessary. The top five reasons given for not purchasing renters insurance are as follows:

  1. My landlord’s insurance covers me
  2. Renters insurance is just too expensive
  3. My belongings aren’t worth insuring
  4. It’s just stuff and I can always replace it
  5. It takes too long

Let’s discuss each one separately:

1. My landlord’s insurance covers me

That simply isn’t true. The majority of landlord policies only cover two things: 1.) the actual design of the structure, and 2.) obligation would it be a good idea for someone somebody be harmed on the property (not inside your rental unit). His or her policy doesn’t cover much for your personal belongings or liability in your space. The only exception to this rule is when the landlord caused damage to your personal property (for example, he knew about a leaking pipe but didn’t fix it in time, and now it has ruined all of your clothes). In that case, you might be able to get reimbursed through the policy of your landlord. However, if the property were to flood as a result of a sudden pipe burst, fire, vandalism, or theft, you would not be covered.

There’s likewise the way that a landowner doesn’t claim any of your possessions. Therefore, even if he wanted to assist you and file a claim for your belongings, the insurance company would probably conclude that the landlord does not have an “insurable interest” in the stolen, damaged, or lost property. He would then be turned down, and you would also be turned down.

It is also essential to keep in mind that landlords are not required by law to have an insurance policy for themselves. Many tenants may believe that coverage is generally available when it is not. However, even if the landlord had a policy, it would not cover your personal possessions.

2. Renters’ insurance is just too expensive.

Did you know that renters insurance can be purchased for as little as fifty cents a day? In fact, renters insurance premiums nationwide average $12 per month. That is just $144 each year, under a calfskin coat (and that is only one coat, not your whole assortment of garments in the event that you expected to supplant them all). The typical policy covers liability for $100,000 and property for $30,000, respectively.

Additionally, you can adjust the total cost by pulling levers. You can change the deductible (when you make a case, the sum you pay before the insurance transporter pays anything) – the higher your deductible, the lower your yearly or regularly scheduled payment installments. You can also alter the total amount of coverage you want or need. A lower annual or monthly premium is also a result of a lower property and liability coverage.

Instead of thinking that insurance is too expensive, I would argue that replacing all of your belongings out of pocket at once is too expensive.

3. My belongings aren’t worth insuring.

You have a love seat you’re perched on, a television opposite you, and likely a PC or tablet that you’re perusing this blog from. There’s a decent opportunity, you’ve likewise got some pleasant dress hanging in your storeroom, many shoes, and pleasant gems or a watch. You might think that none of those are valuable because they were all “hand-me-downs.” It’s tempting to focus on how much you paid, but you should really consider how much it would cost to replace those things.

Therefore, even if your parents upgraded their television, you would still want to replace it if it were stolen, wouldn’t you? Additionally, you ought to take into account that replacement cost.

4. It’s just stuff and I can always replace it

Sadly, this isn’t accurate by the same token. Yes, you would be covering your belongings. However, it goes beyond that. Let’s say you have a favorite rug. One of those rugs features a lion’s head on one side. Your companion comes over, stumbles on your lion head floor covering, and breaks a leg. When you receive the $30,000 in medical bills, it’s no longer just stuff. You need to keep in mind that you’ll have guests over who might hurt themselves due to a strange piece of furniture, unusual placement of the furniture, or even drinking too much wine.

5. It takes too long.

We must credit those who deserve it. This is definitely true. Anything that takes more than five to ten minutes may be considered excessive in today’s world. However, given what you now know from the preceding, don’t you think it’s worth the five minutes to feel and actually be protected?

Are you changing your mind? We hope so, as renters insurance is necessary.

  • Auto Insurance

  • Driving around uninsured is both illegal and very expensive. Insurance Institute reports that the average loss per claim on cars is around $4,900. There are many options when it comes to pick from when it comes to Auto Insurance, which is only further reason you should never go without. Within auto insurance you are covered by liability coverage, collision coverage, and comprehensive coverage. Collision coverage protects the cost to repair or replace your car if it is totaled or damaged in an accident. Liability coverage will cover the cost of any injuries or damage caused by an accident that you were responsible for. Lastly, comprehensive coverage covers your losses in situations such as theft, flood, fire, or vandalism.

    1. Homeowners/Renters Insurance

Homeowners insurance protects more than just your house! From losses of personal items during a hurricane to personal items being stolen- homeowners insurance has you covered! The damages your house experiences during any situation, whether it is caused by a natural disaster or human error such as theft, homeowners insurance has you secured. Homeowners insurance also includes protection and coverage caused by Damages to the home and even unattached buildings like your shed and garage. Liability protection is also included in case of an unexpected injury on the property. The cost of medical bills in the situation of an unexpected accident are also covered.

    1. Umbrella Policy

Many people don’t understand the importance behind the Umbrella Policy. The umbrella policy is a type of insurance that creates an extra layer of protection for both you and your assets when you need coverage that exceeds the limits of your homeowners or auto insurance. For instance, if you’re at fault for a multiple-vehicle accident, medical bills and property damages could quickly add up to more than your auto insurance will cover. If you’re sued for the difference, your savings, your home and even your future wages are placed at risk.

    1. Health Insurance

Just like securing a safe place to live and clean water to drink, health insurance is an essential key factor in life. If you’re uninsured, you’re putting yourself at risk of being vulnerable to a potential financial disaster. Don’t put yourself at risk to be in that situation. One unexpected severe medical emergency can create up to hundreds of thousands of dollars in expenses.

    1. Long-Term Disability Insurance

Slightly over one in four of today’s 20-year-olds will reach a stage of disability before reaching the age of 67, according to the Social Security Administration. Long-term disability is at times not seen as crucial but in all actuality it is. Long-term disability insurance protects you from loss of income if you experience any unexpected and tragic situation which may leave you unable to work for a long period of time. A permanent disability and or illness has the risk of sidelining you and your ability to work. Don’t take any chances.

    1. Term Life Insurance

Too many people take life insurance too lightly. Picture this: If you or your spouse were to pass away unexpectedly, how would the remaining spouse proceed with expenses without your income? In times of devastation and grief, your spouse last worry should be about surviving financially in the instance of your absence. According to The Insurance Information Institute, a horrifying statistic of only 70% of Americans carry life insurance. By purchasing a term life insurance policy for approximately 10-12 times your yearly salary, your family has the ability to be worry free when it comes to financial obligations such as house payments and college tuition.

On August 24, 1992, Hurricane Andrew struck Miami with losses that had never been seen in America before. Andrew caused most carrier to stop writing property coverage in the state and a state pool the Florida Joint Underwriting Association FJUA (now known as Citizens) was formed to provide coverage for Florida homeowners. A special hurricane wind deductible percentage was established forcing Florida homeowners to participate in future losses. It was believed that adding a wind percentage deductible would give the FJUA stability and attract private carriers back to the state. So how exactly does a wind deductible work?

The wind deductible is a percentage–typically 2, 5 and 10 percent–of coverage A which is the insured Dwelling value. For example a 100,000 coverage “A” policy with a 10% wind deductible has a 10,000 deductible. These Deductibles are annual so that if you experience more than one loss in a year you are only assessed the deductible one time. The wind deductible is assessed when your home is damaged by a named storm/hurricane. Additionally some carriers have a deductible called “Other Wind” which refers to a non-named storm deductible. For any other type of covered loss on your policy you will have what is called an “All Other Peril” deductible and this number traditionally is a dollar amount 500, 1000, 2500 or more.

When shopping for hurricane coverage it is important to note that there are minimal savings in increasing a wind deductible on your policy. The best way to shop for coverage is to receive quotes from multiple carriers as prices vary significantly. Additionally some carriers give money saving perks such as disappearing wind deductibles. A disappearing deductible is given to clients with no wind claims for 5 years or more and are free perks.

Home Insurance in Florida is a significant investment knowing your deductible options is important as we head into Hurricane season.

For over 20 plus years I have been asked by parent after parent how much will my teen’s insurance cost and which vehicle is best to purchase for a teen? I have probably quoted 10’s of thousands of scenarios since 1988 with any and all carriers that have written auto insurance in the US. Now my time has come so I decided to go a bit further than I ever have. Like many of you I was nervous about this stage of life, I wanted to make sure my daughter was safe. I decided to not only focus on insurance cost but also safety ratings, customer satisfaction and vehicle cost. Like any good parent/Insurance Agent I took to the net to research vehicles. My focus was on crossover SUV’s. I spent days researching consumer rating bureaus like Edmunds. For safety I sought out the expertise of the Insurance Institute. I sifted through vehicle warranties and ranked them. Finally, I pulled up vehicle base prices to compare them. With all that work I realized that I did not want to keep the info to myself, so I decided to share it with you. Here is what I came up with. I hope this helps you make a more informed decision for your teen driver.
